For the just starting 2nd year MBA's at Rice, I can tell you that 9 out of 100 had investment banking gig, a few PE firms local to Houston, a few TS Big 4 firms, Google, and a few others.
For Texas, I can't give you specific info per se, but know that Texas=Rice in a lot of ways in Houston. (regardless of the rankings which puts Texas at just under 20th and Rice in the 40's.)
Rice>Texas in terms of the experience (the alumni of course is larger at Texas)... Rice is going head over heels with getting their biz program in shape.
Think about it like this. When a great school (Rice) wants to do something, they do it well. In the way other schools have not done so well in establishing a great business program (Yale springs to mind), other universities take a better strategy.
If you tour the campus of Rice's biz program, speak to students who rave about the public communication part of the overall course, and just get a general vibe, you really feel this is going to be a great program in the near future . (if it's not already a great program yet...i don't go so i don't know)
