Thoughts on putting deferred MBA on CV?

I am in the final stages of getting an M7 MBA offer, my question is: should I put it on my CV or will it be seen as a negative indicator in any way?

For reference, my profile is poor but I am turning it around:

INSEAD MIM 99% GMAT, Bayes BSc Finance, no top internships and have had 0 luck with interviews over the years.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, including discussions around deferred MBA admissions, adding a deferred MBA offer from an M7 school to your CV can be a strategic move, but it depends on how you present it and the context of your application.

  1. Highlighting Prestige: A deferred MBA admission from an M7 school is a strong signal of your potential and academic excellence. It demonstrates that a top-tier institution has already vetted and accepted you, which can be a differentiator, especially if your profile has gaps (e.g., lack of top internships).

  2. Placement on CV: Include it under the "Education" section with a clear note that it is a deferred admission. For example:

    • "Deferred Admission, [M7 School Name] MBA Program (Class of [Year])"
  3. Avoiding Negative Perception: Ensure that the deferred MBA is framed as a future commitment rather than a fallback. Employers might question why you are pursuing internships or roles if you already have an MBA lined up. To counter this, emphasize your intent to gain meaningful pre-MBA experience to maximize the value of the program.

  4. Tailoring for Roles: For EB internships or MBB/T2 consulting, showcasing the deferred MBA can work in your favor, as these firms value candidates with strong academic credentials. However, if you feel it might raise questions about your long-term commitment to the role, consider leaving it off and discussing it only if asked.

  5. Leverage in Networking: Use the deferred MBA as a talking point in networking conversations. It can open doors and signal your ambition and capability.

In summary, adding the deferred MBA to your CV can be a positive move, but ensure it aligns with your narrative and career goals. Tailor its inclusion based on the specific role or firm you're targeting.
