Undergrad at Kelley School of Business transfer advice

I'm currently a sophomore majoring in finance at The Kelley School of Business at Indiana University and to be honest I'm not really happy here. I'm considering transferring to DePaul since I really want to live in the city and I feel trapped out here.

Would transferring to DePaul hurt me that much in terms of working in finance? compared to just staying at Kelley and finishing my last 2 years (Kelley #10 undergrad business US News)

Yes, it would hurt you. If you get into IU's investment banking club, you have a very good shot of getting into NYC IB. DePaul can't offer you the same kind of opportunity.

This is definitely a complicated decision. As mentioned above, there will be detriments in terms of the networking you would be given up, and it may be harder to get into NYC IB from DePaul. However, if you're not happy at Kelley, it would be bad for you both mentally and academically to stay for a whole two years more. Before you make any decisions, you should maybe speak with an adviser or with other people who have considered transferring. Only do it if you're sure about it, but if the environment's definitely not the right one for you, staying will only make things worse.

Yeah, a WHOLE 2 years of UNDERGRADUATE college is so tough mentally. You definitely need to talk to a whole bunch of other people and have them help you with this super complicated life decision. How will you ever cope?!

Suck it up and finish it out. Quit whining. Trapped? You don' t have a clue what that means.

I would stay. transfering sucks. DePaul isn't that strong of a school along the Chicago ladder, all it helps is to be close.... kind of like the NYU Stern vs. Wharton reference, but don't take it literally.

also if you wanna transfer, try U of I? it's at least a better deal if you doubt about UChicago or Northwestern in town.
