Undergrad Business Student Intership

For my last year of Bachelor in Business, and after documenting myself on IB for awhile now, I must complete an internship to get this BSc.

I am very close to someone working at UBS in Paris, and I want to put all the chances on my side, now what kind of Internship can I realize/apply there to get the most out of it, either professionally or simply for my CV ?

Additional info; I am aiming to get a MSc in Finances or Management with Finances minor from a target school after I complete this Bachelor. What can I do to improve my chances of success ?

The school I currently attend is not within the Top 10 in France, I will attend JKU in Austria for the next semester, then the last semester will be an Internship. nothing crazy yet I admit.

I want to aim for any of the targets schools in Europe to be fair. Warwick, WHU, HSG, Bocconi... I have understood that location is a prime factor, but I don’t want to stay in France, the IB market and lifestyle (Taxes, etc) isn’t really appealing. I also Started studying for the GMAT about a month ago, will pass the exam in Jan/Feb 2021, and I am considering a MOOC in Finances this summer as proof of Interest and Personal Investment towards this field.

The French IB scene is small compared to London, and wages are lower. In any case, you'll compete with top 5 business school students (HEC/ESSEC/ESCP/EMLyon/EDHEC) as well as students from top engineering schools (X/Supélec/etc).

If your contact at UBS is senior enough, ask him directly for good ol' piston to get your final year internship in their IB division.

You should only apply to UK unis, because London has the biggest IB scene. Also, you have to sit for the GMAT earlier than that, because you must submit your applications around Jan/Feb 2021. If the GMAT is too math-heavy for you, switch to the GRE, way easier.

If you manage to get an IB internship at UBS Paris next summer, don't waste your time this summer on a MOOC, stay focused on the GMAT (or GRE) and sit a first exam in September, this way you'll be able to resit it once if you're not satisfied with your score.

Thanks for these tips. You’re right about the GMAT date if I want to apply to UK, I’ll consider this.

My contact at UBS is senior, so I could definitely try and make the most out of it, the internship is set to start by Feb 2021 so I must provide everything by September 2020 to my contact as they told me awhile back, the MOOC was intended to strengthen my profile for this Internship and isn’t too heavy (Says 3/4 hours a week on a 4 week long duration, seems doable).

I’m gonna reschedule my GMAT studies and see if it’s worth it taking the MOOC, thanks again for your advice!
