Warwick or Bayes? (Norwegian student)
I have a offer from Warwick and Bayes for a MSc in Finance. I want to break into IB in London. What would be the best choice? I’m a norwegian student and am about to finish my bachelors degree in finance from BI Norwegian business school. I also got offers from Edinburgh (finance and investments), St andrews (finance) and strathclyde (finance) which i have rejected since i sort of figured warwick or bayes were the best choices.
Based on the most helpful WSO content, Warwick would be the stronger choice for breaking into investment banking (IB) in London. Warwick is widely regarded as a target school for IB in the UK, especially outside of London and Oxbridge. It has a solid reputation for finance-related programs and strong placement into front-office roles at top investment banks. While Bayes (formerly Cass) is also a good school with decent placement in London, Warwick generally has a better brand name and alumni network in the IB space.
Here’s why Warwick might be the better option: 1. Target School Status: Warwick is considered a target school for many investment banks, meaning recruiters actively seek candidates from there. 2. Alumni Network: Warwick has a larger and more established alumni base in IB, which can be crucial for networking and securing interviews. 3. Reputation: Warwick’s MSc in Finance is highly regarded and often ranked among the top programs in the UK for finance.
Bayes, while strong, is typically seen as a semi-target school. It may offer better proximity to networking opportunities in London due to its location, but Warwick’s overall reputation and placement record give it the edge.
For a Norwegian student aiming to break into IB in London, Warwick would likely maximize your chances.

Warwick is 1000 times better
Ok, thanks
The only concern I had was that I’ve heard that its harder for internationals to get work in IBD in London when having gone to warwick.
What? Why?
I have genuinely never heard that before. There should be no issue, domestic students from WW place well, so why would internationals not.
Idk, thats what i was wondering aswell, read it in another thread on WSO, but it was from 4 ish years ago. Thanks for the help!
