What are my chances?
I transferred to DePaul University in Chicago this fall. I am a Junior. Currently pursuing a Bachelors in Finance. What are my chances of employment at one of the investment banks? Thanks.

what's yoru GPA?
3.7
I know if I apply to any of top 20 banks, I will have my resume thrown out the window. So my question is, how does one network? How do you contact a alumni and get them to push your resume? Thanks in advance.
DePaul won't get you anywhere with the bulge bracket banks, but there are plenty of mid-market banks that would consider you.
Research the banks that focus on middle market transactions (under $500 Million)
So I would have to start in the middle market. Are there positions in Sales & Trading in middle market? Thanks.
Looks like I am getting the same treatment as I would in bulge bracket banks in here. That's really sad. But it isn't impossible, look at Chase's CEO, he's not from a ivy league school. Things can happen, and I will reach one of the bulge bracket banks sooner or later, that is my promise.
If your GPA is 3.7, feel free to send out your resume to any bank. I currently work at a BB, have been at 2 other BB's in the last 7 years and am responsible for hiring and managing my group. Some people are big on pedigree but I personally would rather take a 3.7 from DePaul than a 3.0 for UPenn.
If you know someone at a BB, don't be shy. Give your resume and have them try to give it to the right people. Last few people I hired were not from IVY. they graduated from Penn State, Mellon, Rutgers, G-town.
Don't be discouraged by talks of not being able to get into a BB. That's crap. With that said, some banks such as Goldman love pedigree and a Stanford, Harvard resume almost guarantees you get in. FYI, most senior management aside from Goldman are not from Ivy.
-Citi- ceo USC- Gtown -Morgan Stanley- ceo- duke vice chair- Umich -Lehman- ceo- Univ. of colorado- NYC coo- Hofstra
anyone that tells you that BB is only reserved for Ivy is full of crap and themselves.
