Which UK unis are worth it for masters programmes?

Hi all,

Getting ready to apply for master programmes later this year. I’ve seen a lot of discussion that some unis aren’t a (semi-)target at MSc level despite being one at undergraduate level, eg Warwick.

Is this actually true, and, if so, which universities are (semi-)targeted at the master levels for UK investment banking?

Thank you for any help.

Target: LSE, LBS, HEC, Bocconi

Semi: HSG, ESSEC, IE, Imperial, Scieces Po

Tbh there is only really targets for masters

IE and Sciences Po in the same tier as HSG, ESSEC and Imperial seems weird. Would personally rank them like this:

Target: LSE, LBS, HEC, Bocconi (mostly for Italians, less so for internationals)

Lower Target: HSG (primarily for DACH), Imperial, ESSEC (mostly for French people - still seems to place decently)

Semi (if at all): IE, Sciences Po

It's true that the concept of a "semi" doesn't translate as neatly for graduate studies, but some schools still place relatively well for quality students despite not being as strong as LSE/LBS/HEC, so it can still be applied for the most part.

IE, Sciences Po and Imperial none are even semi targets. IE lower of all. Super expensive and non existent alumni network... Sciences po is not a business school while Imperial is a STEM school... Rather strange comment I think...

bro the only comments you put on this site are about masters programs in europe… wtf do u do for your job - i guarantee you’re still a student like us operating like you’re VP level

Based on the most helpful WSO content, the targeted universities for Masters in Finance in the UK are:

Targets: - Oxford - London School of Economics (LSE) - HEC Paris - London Business School (LBS)

Semi-Targets: - Imperial College London - Warwick

These universities are recognized for their strong placement in investment banking roles at the master's level. If you aim to maximize your chances of breaking into investment banking, focusing on these institutions would be beneficial.
