Why Alabama is a Target School

The University of Alabama barely gets mentioned on this forum but it is a target school that competes with the best. The average salary of those weighing over 200 lbs is $177,000. This is double of the the average starting salaries at Wharton, Harvard, and Stanford. In addition, there are several kids that I know that are getting top gigs paying over a $1 million this year. These are types of jobs that kids at Ivies only dream about getting. These top employers show up every week to Alabama’s campus to try to wow the students, while students at NYU can’t even get a networking call. These top employers routinely take 15-20 kids per year from Alabama because of the school’s extensive history of developing top talent. Comparatively, there might be 1 MIT kid working in the back office doing some data analysis that clients will never even see. All these points clearly show that Alabama is a top target and we should now refer to the top tier as HYPWA.

You're missing the point. For a team comprised primarily of African American students, it's odd, and perhaps racially insensitive, to assume that the players are majoring in African Studies, even when one anonymously hides behind their computer. In the case of the SEC, "business and related majors" and "sport/recreation management or administration" are by far and away the most common majors. The top 5 are rounded out by "communication and/or journalism," "kinesiology and exercise sciences," and "general studies."

Of the 14 teams in the SEC, African Studies is the top major at Florida. Nowhere else. At Alabama? Business. Maybe the original post didn't intend to convey racism, but you need to be more aware, my man.

I disagree. That firm might not be a top shop, but I'd argue last year was an anomaly. They had nearly two decades of solid leadership and it was just some bad timing on restructuring that they fell so hard in the league tables. Usually, I'd consider them competitive, but I do think that super star analyst from LSU is going to be a huge rain man for them.
