Working in NYC

Hi all, this is my firs post on wso!
I will be attending the Bocconi University next year, and will study "Economics and Finance". I know that Bocconi will probably make me work in London and there are little chances to work in the US after graduating.
My plan is to work in London as an analyst and then do an MBA in the US (Columbia/Harvard). Will I get some chances to work in New York after the MBA or I will still penalized because I have graduated at Bocconi ?
Also, could you tell me how long does last an MBA ? I heard about a year if I'm not wrong.
Thank you very much.
