I am in a bit of a pickle. I am in a MSF program in the UK, but looking to move to the big apple or Chi town upon graduation in a few months. I'm a US citizen and I have a pretty good network established in each city, but I cannot speak with them via telephone.
Do you recommend cold emailing and LinkedIn messaging my network stating that I will be moving there in a few months? I am wondering if starting the dialogue off this soon will be beneficial. Any thoughts or advice?

Use Skype or Magic Jack to call them?
You guys are right. I was concerned about cold calling from a Skype account, but I will resort to that once I have exploited my email options.
