Advice on Moving, Security Desposits

Hey Traders,

I finally found a spot in Stamford. met the guy on craigslist, seems like a cool guy, said he works for GE Capital. Im staying in his extra room for 600 a month, may 1-august 1, Im just a little concerned about the first months rent of 600 which he wants immediately.

I wont arrive in Stamford until May 22, but I obviously need to front him some money to get him to stop showing the place...and its already been hell finding a spot. We both have BofA so I could transfer the money to his account, im Just concerned that he could keep my $$$ and never answer the phone again...

But again he seems like a legit guy. Im in Georgia so its not very pratical for me to fly up there just to handle this and fly back... and fly up there again for the summer on May 22.

Any advice?

How about your get a signed lease? Don't transfer the money, send the dude a check. Get into the habit of keeping a paper trail and stuff.

Also, you have looked at the place/seen very detailed pictures? Does it come with furniture?
