Anyone heard of Cargill( prop trading)
Hi everyone,
I've been in this forum for a long time and underwater, recently got an offer from Cargill, more specifically in their World Trading Group based in Geneva. I've always been work in the IB/Hedge Fund as a derivative quant/trader, but never heard Cargill before as I didn't touch aggs.
Can someone in this field shed some lights on it, ideally I'd like to stay for a good job for as many years as possible, but if say I find I'm not a good fit there, what are the exit options?

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but Cargill is probably as safe of a long-term employer as there is. Been in ags for over 160+ years, family owned, very good handle on risk. They are the marquee name for just about every agricultural commodity.
They’re pretty active in EM FX and EM IRS. All the commodity trading houses have large prop groups that trade things outside of commodities
I heard in their group( world trading group), they are only trading soft aggs
Cargill is the largest agriculture commodity processor in the world and largest/second largest private company in the US depending on the year. It is equivalent to asking if anyone has heard of BP or Shell before. I can't think of a better gig in the ag trading world than being in the world trading group at Cargill. You would have every resource possibly available plus more knowledge of the physical supply chains than anyone else in the world. Exit opps in case it doesn't work out? You name it if you build a good track record there.
thanks guys for this insightful reply. I'm not based in US, feel bit ignorant of not knowing Cargill, but I asked my colleagues in GS( trading team, not commodity trading though) and none of them heard of Cargill neither
Cargill traditionally has been a physical trading firm focused on leveraging their physical assets to make trading decisions "boots on the ground" so historically they have not had a strong emphasis on quantitative trading. They have made a conscious shift lately to build a quant team in Geneva to influence their trading decisions.
