Career in Asset-backed Trading?
I think many of us know what physical trading is but given the rise of trading houses utilizing assets way more than they used to, what's a career like running these assets?
I've looked at some linkedin profiles and I see some analysts in ops (especially in ags/metals) are sent to run these assets, rather than get a trading seat. Do these guys still get to trade in a way? Like running an aluminum smelter requires power and the manager needs to hedge and can even take a market view on electricity/alumina/bauxite prices.
