Commodity Trading Non-compete
How strict are non-compete agreements? Want to leave my current shop. Have seen people leave before but do not know if their non-compete is as long as my one.

Pretty strict, they exist for a reason. Norm is 3 months graden and 2 months noncompete now. Have seen some 6 months though.
yeah i'd say pretty strict since the company you would be leaving is paying you for that garden leave so you are still an employee of the company for as long as the non-compete is. It could vary by company but that is my experience at 5 companies all different aspects of the energy trading business
If they aren't paying you then your not on the payroll and you should be free to do as you please
I had 3 months at my old job. New job is 2m notice + 3m NC.

Bro read your contract, it will be set out pretty clearly. Mine is 0-12 months.
