Don't want to be a stupid intern

I'm interning for a pretty big firm in s&t this summer. I don't turn 21 until later in the summer, and if the team asks me to grab drinks I wouldn't want to do anything which could hurt my chances of a ft offer. Any advice on what I should do if this happens would be huge

Agree with mswoonc - highly unlikely someone from the floor will invite you drinking. If for whatever reason they do, they'll know you'll be close to the cut-off age, so will almost certainly ask how old you are beforehand. Also, saying you're underage won't at all harm your chances of getting an FT offer: if anything, the traders will appreciate your honesty (and you saving them the potential trouble of illegally supplying alcohol to a minor).

If you get asked to grab drinks after work you GO. You won't swoop anyone away with your talent and skills. Why not win an FT offer by being a likeable and cool guy?

I don't know... Yeah. Almost definitely yes.

you can always get a diet coke to drink and if anyone asks why ur not drinking (don't worry...nobody will...they don't care) you can say "i just feel dehydrated". I can't remember the last time i was carded in NYC.

just google it...you're welcome
