Employment Contract not signed: Is this normal?
Hey everyone,
I'm new to this industry. Appreciate any advice.
So I'm graduating this summer and just got an offer from a prop shop. I'll start around the summer time. Offer letter signed, but the company said I'll sign the employment contract and other paperwork a little ahead of the start date. That means I need to wait for several months. Is this an industry norm or should I be concerned?

What the heck is the difference between offer letter and employment letter? I would hold your breath because I think offer doesn't mean anything besides you accepted the offer but employment is the final...

its meaningless...as the above poster said, employment in finance is "at-will" meaning they can fire you at any time, with zero warning, for any reason.
i signed many "employment contracts" on my 1st day of work, along with the usual tax forms. its just a formality..don't sweat it.
I see. Thanks! I guess I'm paranoid about my first job. Should I keep interviewing for firms before my start, just in case the firm resciend the offer?

You're all good, same thing happened with me. Just don't do anything too stupid between now and actually starting the job.
