GS promotes 30 year old to MD

Source: https://www.efinancialcareers.co.uk/news/2023/11/…

I get that this isn't *super* uncommon but it is uncommon to be that young.

Looking at this guy's linkedin, he went straight from VP (2 years as VP) to MD, does Goldman not have a rank between VP and MD? In which case is a GS MD, the same as an JPM or MS MD?
Dudes been at GS for 9.5 years total, that's pretty fast to MD, what needs to happen for someone to be this accelerated?

GS is a big believer in early promotions for talented folks. There was a trader a few years back who made MD at the age of 27 and partner at the age of 32.

Only 4 ranks, analyst, assoc, vp, md. While there are a fair few success stories of people rising the ranks quickly there are plenty of folks who spend most if not all of their career as VPs.
