LDN S&T SA 2026 desk choice and pre internship networking

I got an offer for Nomura London S&T SA. I was wondering which desk I should choose, and there will be a placement fair in May to see each desk. Should I approach people beforehand or is it a bit too much?  I do not have a strong preference, just want to get a return offer for trading pos . Background did EQD and treasury trading before. Thanks in advance!

PS. I got the email of one of the interviewers (ED of a desk)  who did my offer call, he seems to like me and said I can send anything to him. I wonder how I should keep in touch with him in the most appropriate way

Not OP but how would you approach reaching out to them before the event and leave an impression, since the list of available desks for the summer won't be out yet?

List of desks might not be listed but you should have a general idea of the desks on the floor in both the equity and fixed income desk. I think if you reach out to a desk earlier than the scheduled networking you should be knowledge about the desk and the products it trades or at least show a passion above and beyond any typical desk you are indifferent about. A lot just be a cool person and remember it’s a people business. Desk fit is dependent upon product knowledge and culture fit with the team. When you reach out just shoot the person an email. Short and sweet
