Move timing

Gentlemen, play a guessing game with me. I've made it to round three for a job in S&T (associate/vp level) in London and I've been told by someone not involved in the interview process that they are down to 3 candidates including me. My advantage is my short notice period vs the two other candidates who need 3-4 month to start.

In what kind of F situation would you need 3-4 months to move?!

  • Bonus restrictions?
  • Relocation restrictions? (keep in mind the firm is not sponsoring for work permits)
  • Non-compete/long notice period? doesnt really make sense...

I thought garden leave were basically your notice period. So I guess it is standard to have 3-6 month "non-compete/garden leave" periods? are these months usually paid or unpaid?
