Moving from research to sales

I work in sellside research for a BB bank. I enjoy the work when I’m speaking to investors and management but writing the research is less fun. I think I want to move to equity sales.

2 questions:

  1. How do I initiate a move? Do I speak to someone in sales and sound out the move or speak to someone senior in my current team?
  2. Is there anything you’d be wary of before making the move? Why might the grass not be greener etc.
