Have an offer for a WF S&T internship in FI for 2022. I know WF isn't a BB but how feasible is it to move into a BB S&T program after this internship? Trying to plan opps for the future. Very happy with this offer though.
I feel like this could be tough just based on the fact that most banks are not growing headcount in S&T and its not like banking where there is so much deal flow that their is a need for extra bodies at the junior level. It feels like S&T hiring at the junior level is about the same as before. Couple of things I would recommend
1. Continue to stay in touch with people you have networked with, and try to find new connections at firms you are targeting. Just keep talking to people and getting your name out there and trying to learn as much as possible about the business in general. I would not mention anything about your desire to switch firms until you have actually spent time working at your summer internship.
2. Try to find people who have made a similar switch (interned at one firm and full time at another) and ask them about how they did it. I would also reach out to recent WF S&T analysts and interns who are no longer with WF to discuss how they moved on.
3. Have a reason for why you don't want to go full time at WF, location, product, people, etc.
General advice- Go in with an open mind and make sure you do everything you can to get a full time offer. People will be able to tell if you are only thinking about how you can leverage this to a better full time offer. WF is not the strongest franchise in FI S&T but that does not mean you can't have long term success there (Or any of the other decent sized banks that are not-BBs) and since S&T is not a 2 yr deal like banking that is something to think about.
