Promised Grad Program AC after placement year - No reply despite multiple follow-ups

Hi all,

I'm a final year at a non-target Russell group uni in the UK (attached CV for reference).

Completed a S&T summer last year at a large European BB and was offered a FT role starting in 2023. I couldn't accept it since I was registered for a uni placement year (worked at a MM IB outside the UK). Asked for a deferral and was told I'd get an AC interview in September prior to 2024 grad hiring.

Followed up multiple times with multiple HR contacts to no avail - they've always taken a long time to respond to anything but I'm extremely worried about my situation right now. Graduating without a job in this economy is terrifying, especially since I'm an international student with student loans to pay off. What should I do in this situation? I'd happily take another summer internship just so I can have *some* sort of potential employment in the future.

I'm trying to arrange as many catch-ups with people I know in the bank but it's still a few weeks until I will be back in London. Been applying to summers as well but having some clarity on this situation would help get a lot of stress off my mind, between balancing job-hunting and my final year at uni.

Appreciate any advice at all. Thanks.

Firstly, why do a summer if you are not in a penultimate year? This must be DB, since Barclays always allows deferral.

I doubt they have started their AC, and that is probably why you haven't heard back. I would just call them
