Shell Trader Development program 2024 thread.

I got an invitation to complete an assessment and would like to know what is the hiring process by Shell in other locations(I ma based in London). I am a bit confused whether their hiring process is standardized or not. On their website they say that first stage of hiring process is a phone call but I received an assessment. Also if anyone has completed the assessment then share some question example. I also want to know if this program is only for training crude traders or is it possible to go on other desks? I am interested in LNG, Gas and Power

Thanks.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's what you need to know about the Shell Trading Development Programme:

Hiring Process:

  • Standardization Across Locations: There is some indication that the hiring process may vary slightly by location. For example, one user mentioned that the Houston job posting stated that only one position was available, while the China TDP had four positions. This suggests that the process might not be entirely standardized across all locations.
  • Assessment Invitations: It appears that receiving an assessment invitation is a common step in the process, even if the website mentions a phone call as the first stage. This discrepancy might be due to regional differences or updates in the hiring process.

Assessment Examples:

  • Unfortunately, there are no specific examples of assessment questions provided in the knowledge base. However, you might find it useful to prepare for general trading and commodities-related questions, as well as behavioral and situational judgment tests.

Program Scope:

  • Desks and Specializations: The Shell Trading Development Programme is not limited to training crude traders. It is possible to move to other desks such as LNG, Gas, and Power. This flexibility allows participants to explore various areas within Shell's trading operations.

Additional Notes:

  • Application to Multiple Locations: There is no clear information on whether you can apply to multiple locations simultaneously. However, one user mentioned that Shell has restrictions on the frequency of test-taking. If you haven't passed the assessment in the past, you may need to wait 1-2 years before reapplying.

For more detailed and specific information, you might want to check the Shell Trading Development Programme thread on Wall Street Oasis or reach out directly to Shell's HR department.
