UBS Exploding Offer Regret

Hey everyone. I received an exploding offer from UBS for a sales and trading SA. At the time I had no other BB offers so I took it. Later I received interviews from JPM, MS, and two other BB's. I didn't take the interviews because I know that the dangers of reneging are high because finance is a small world.

Now I'm sitting here kicking myself because I read on this board and elsewhere that UBS is currently known for layoffs and low bonuses.

Does anyone have any advice for me? At this point I'm mostly focused on what I can do to get full time interviews from the places that wanted to interview me for SA. If nothing else I hope this is a warning to others about the danger of taking exploding offers.

Don't sweat it! It's an SA position so you're still in good shape. Just do well during the summer, get the FT offer and if you decide UBS isn't for you, leverage it into an offer at the bank you prefer. Just be sure to try to maintain any contacts you might have used to get the interviews at the other banks.

All things considered, you are far from being in a bad position when it comes to landing the FT gig you're hoping for.

Congrats on the SA position. Don't stress.

i forget, but there's this saying about a bird in hand

in the future, i guess you could always take the offer, keep interviewing, and renege if you have to. depends on your risk tolerance and your personal views on reneging
