UBS hiring timeline and reaching out to team members

Hello

A week or so ago I applied to two trading jobs in London at UBS. This was done during a friday evening and I was rewarded with two replies the day after already. One of which went further along in the progress whilst the other was declined.
Last friday I applied for another trader role at UBS but this time in NYC and the role feels perfect as it is in the same nishe area of trading as I am currently working in. Here, I have not gotten any kind of reply on the career site. I know that it has only been a few days but my questions are these:

1. I have read from now and then that UBS have a slow hiring process but is there inherent differences between London and NYC?

2. Once again, there has just been days since I applied but what are you guys' opinions on reaching out to members of the team you are applying to? How does one do this without coming off weird?
