Exit Opps: Tech Corp Dev vs. VC/GE

Currently working as a second year analyst focused on MM consumer M&A (closed two eComm sellsides last year fwiw). I want to go into tech and I'm split between venture/growth or tech corp dev.

The one thing I'm really hung up on right now is WLB / pay ratio. I've been seeing posts saying 55 hours is typical for corp dev (which pays 120-160k), then on other posts seeing 55-60 hours is typical for VC/GE with higher pay. Is this accurate? Is corp dev at a tech firm meaningfully less hours than elsewhere, much like the tech industry as a whole?

I'd kill to leave my banking job and work 45-50 hours a week on average making 140-160k with equity upside but I don't see any reason to choose corp dev over VC/GE if they have similar hours. Am I missing something? Curious to hear any and all thoughts.
