IB -> VC Pre-MBA --> PE or HF post-MBA?

Hey all, I realize that post-MBA PE positions are hard to get -- and even harder if you don't have pre-MBA PE experience. That being said, would it be possible for someone with a VC background (think 2 years of IB and 2 years of VC) to transition to HF or PE after MBA? Would the caliber of B-school play into it at all?

I know it's an uphill battle but I'm just curious if anyone has any anecdotes or knows if its possible.
