Bank of America Merril Lynch Wealth management summer analyst internship

Hello everyone,

I’m a junior at a semi-target university with a long-standing interest in wealth management. Recently, I received an offer from BofA Merrill for their Wealth Management Analyst internship. After doing more research, I realized this role leans more toward sales and offers limited technical or investment-focused training.

I’m wondering if it’s possible to complete this internship and later transition to Bank of America Private Bank, which focuses on serving ultra-high-net-worth clients and offers a broader range of wealth management services.

I’d also appreciate insights from anyone who has done this internship and successfully secured other opportunities during full-time recruiting.

Hi! I completed this internship last summer and ended up returning to BAML. The training that they provided us with was primarily in emotional intelligence, communication, etc. However, working for a large firm like BAML helps get your foot in the door for other opportunities. Some of my peers who did not take the return offer have moved to different firms/roles, so it is possible to move into private banking if you are proactive about networking/applying. I would also leverage the connections that you make if you decide to take the offer!
