PWM Sales and Research with Bloomberg Terminal (Originally Posted: 11/11/2014)
Maybe understandably I can't locate any information on this but does anyone have any experience in having a Bloomberg terminal for private wealth management. For both sales and research I feel like it might make sense to get one for our group but at 2k a month I would like to see if anyone else has any experience in utilizing a terminal successfully.
We would want to pull M&A deals, private company information and contact info, as well as use it for portfolio management.
Thanks
the few PWM guys I've seen have it deal a lot in individual fixed income because firms keep a lot less in inventory and it's tough to get data. generally speaking, you can get analytics and data that's acceptable for much less from various providers, but if your team has $1bn plus with a significant individual bond business, it's worth it.
we have about half a billion and we don't have one nor do we see the value. if you're at a big firm just find some of your colleagues who have one and ask them.

I interned at UBS PWM, and yes we used the Bloomberg terminals.
Yes
Yes. Now there won't be one at every desk, but we have multiple on our floor and I use one everyday.
Yup..A few teams and individual advisers have their own terminal but most people use the "public" ones around the floor.
yes, if you are good on a terminal, they will like you. We hired our former bloomberg rep as an associate.
