Leveraging internship at a small PWM to a junior year internship

I'm about to start a sophomore year internship at a small wealth management/investment advisor shop. My interests are in AM/HF but I do realize that coming from a non-target makes it much more difficult to break in out of UG.

First, does anyone have any specific advice beyond networking with alumni or being able to tell your story? Also, is there any best way to go for next summer if AM/HF internships are out of the equation?

Thanks
