Morgan Stanley Operations? Big 4 Financial Advisory?
Currently working at Big 4 Firms Tax consulting. However I want to transfer to the financial industry therefore I am looking at new opportunities, especially for industry/equity research position.
Have been offered by Morgan Stanley for its Operation position. Could anyone please share with me about the future career path? Just heard that this could be a dead-end in career and little chance to be transferred to FO? Otherwise, is it a better choice to internally transfer to Financial Advisory positions in Big 4 Firm?
Thanks for your advice!
Dont do operations, I've seen too many people making that move for the firm name and in the hope of reaching the FO but got stuck. I cant guarantee it'll work through the transaction team of your big 4 but to me its a much better option, at least you'll get relevant experience and you can always go to a smaller boutique if you miss the BBs, EBs.
Move quickly though, you only have a very short window, the more senior you get the harder it becomes
Do not take an operations position with the hope of lateraling to a FO position. Big 4 FA wins this hands down.
