Spinning a BB Wealth Management Internship Into a Job In a Different Field

I go to a non-target state school. Unfortunately, I was misguided and pretty much applied exclusively to BB investment banking internship positions. By the time spring rolled around, I had 2 interviews and gotten 0 offers. A couple of weeks ago, I was lucky to land a wealth management position at a BB. Although it's not the particular field I would like to go into, I'm going to make the most of it, and put as much effort in as possible.

My ultimate question is: How much would this particular internship help me with getting a job at the same bank in a different field?

It's at UBS in NYC, but not at their main office. I believe there will be 20 other interns, so it's not just an internship for a small office.
