There are no VPs / Senior VPs in the investment bank. The ranks are analyst, associate director, director, executive director, managing director.
The wealth management division is where people have VP / SVP titles.
Woops, should have clarified. This is for wealth management at UBS (updated in the title). Where does SVP fall in relation to Managing Director?
It's based on how much revenue they produce.
Does that mean they are "better investors" or just good at business development and getting new clients?
It just means they manage more assets. Being a successful advisor is 10% investments and 90% sales/relationship building. With that said, top advisors earn millions.
this is correct, assuming they're an advisor. if a manager/non advisor role, it's more due to tenure
Don't know exact answer, just did some quick research and know a SVP for UBS. Seems to me like ED/MD run the metro/branch offices, SVPs run groups.
Wealth Management titles are 90% about how much money you manage. 10% about your seniority (years at firm). An Executive Director will directly have $750 Mil, MD (usually) over a billion. A SVP probably doesn't exceed the threshold for AUM.
It's based on THEIR clients, not the group's btw.
