Wealth Management to Equity Research?

Hey wallstreetoasis,

My goal is to break into Equity Research but there aren't many alumni from my school in that field. However, there is an alumni who is very successful in Wealth Management at a reputable firm. I have an informal interview with them soon. Should I be forthcoming about my intentions to get into equity research? Is the transition from Wealth Management to equity research even reasonable? If so, how would you recommend going about it?
