2016 Stanford MBA Future Leaders Program

Did anyone else apply for the program? This will be the very first year of the program so it would be great if someone close to the GSB could provide an estimate of how many students they're planning to invite. General discussion about the program/selection process is also welcome.

 

So, this is basically like HBS's Summer Venture in Management Program then. I thought it was weird that Stanford didn't have a similar program like that for minorities. Unfortunately I found out about both too late (currently a senior) but seems like a cool opportunity.

I got this straight of the Stanford GSB page for the Future Leaders Program: "Competitive applicants will have a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher"

So, if this program is a pipeline for Stanford's deferred MBA (which it looks like it is) then do they seriously consider people with GPAs as low as 3.0 or below? Shocked.

 

Well, there are always going to be those few outstanding cases where someone has a very low GPA but an amazing life story/work experience. It's unlikely that an applicant with a 3.9 who normally makes the cut would have also made the cut if their GPA was a 3.0.

This is the first year of the program, so it's likely a late response to some others that have been around for a few years.
