2020 junior recruiting with upcoming Sophomore BB SA

I’ve got a Sophomore SA stint at GS/MS/JPM coming up and it’s in my absolute dream group, so I would very much like to convert it to a junior SA and eventually full-time offer. However, I feel that I got really lucky placing at the firm and I am nervous about the prospect of not getting a return offer. With recruiting so accelerated, most firms will be done hiring for 2020 SAs by the time I hear about whether I got a return. Should I continue recruiting for 2020 and let any offers I get explode? Should I accept another offer and renege (I don’t want to do this)? Should I just refrain from recruiting on the accelerated cycle and target the few BBs that will still be hiring for 2020 in August? At a loss here because this was never a problem before recruiting moved up before Sophomore summer- would appreciate any input.

I don't think your timing is right. Didn't banks push back recruiting for Jr summer until people start their Jr year? Also, assuming you do a decent job you should get a return, at your age the key is being fun and reliable, not so much being able to solo a model with perfect accuracy.

It will be extremely evident whether you will get a Jr offer within your first month of the internship, everyone will either love shooting the shit with you or avoid socializing with you. I'd reach out to an analyst to ask if you should apply for summer positions at other banks as security or even applying could trigger upset.

Congrats on your dream group, just be fun, reliable, and a yes man/woman and you'll get a Jr summer offer
