Emory vs Oxford at Emory

I want to go into Wallstreet investment banking. I have been accepted to Oxford college at Emory University and I’ve been waitlisted for the Emory college. Would I be at a disadvantage for IB if I attend Oxford for my first two years and then attend Emory’s main campus my last two years. I will definitely be able to get into Goizueta which has students start Junior year. I’m pretty sure I have all the same advantages as the Emory campus because I am still apart of Emory university and will attend the business school. Would attending Oxford and then attending Goizueta for junior and senior year allow me to break into IB?

Former Emory Goizueta student here. Would not recommend attending the Oxford campus. Breaking into IB will be more difficult because you will likely still be at Oxford your second semester of sophomore year, which is when most banks recruit. More importantly, your college experience for those first two years (which are key) will not be very enjoyable imo. If you get into Emory College this obviously doesn't hold true.

Current Emory student here. From Oxford it is a little harder to get into IB but not that much more difficult as classes are slightly easier so there is a GPA boost. I know a lot of former Oxford students who joined OxVentures and were able to get club leadership experience very early on.

Overall, Emory placement has been very strong the last few years and as long as you network, you will get an offer.

Do Oxford students also attend clubs at the main campus such as any investment or banking clubs. I know that it is important to be apart of these extracurriculars for IB so if I attend Oxford would I still be able to be apart of clubs at the Emory campus?

Nope. Not until they come over to Atlanta. The only activities they can really apart on the main campus is Greek Life.

I’ve heard that it’s possible to ‘graduate’ early from Oxford College and rejoin Emory College in the second semester of your sophomore year. Is this possible? If so, how difficult/common is it for Oxford students to do so?

I’ve already been emailing with counselors and they said since I will have a car at the Oxford campus I could commute for clubs, OCR, career offices, and such on the main campus. So with that would you say the only hard part would be the commute which I will certainly make.
