Advice for a freshman who wants to trade?

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I'm a freshman at a semi target (UIUC) and I'd really like to break into trading (preferably S&T but I'd settle for prop as it's recruited much more here). I'm majoring in finance and thinking of minoring in Computer science because that seems to be where trading is moving. Here's my resume: http://www.razume.com/documents/13908

I'd appreciate any advice you could give.

Thanks

solid for a freshman, try and get some sort of finance internship over summer. See if there are some smaller prop shops looking for interns, maybe do something with risk management at a bank. Maybe start up a trading club on campus, im sure you would get support from your business frat and enter into trading competitions or something like that. Looks good though and as young as you are anything finance would be positive with getting some exposure to the markets.

Any specific instruments you're interested in?

Wanabeinfinance,

I'm trying to get something in finance but not having too much luck so far. I've sent out resumes and cover letters to prop shops but haven't heard anything. Maybe I'll try and work unpaid somewhere. As far as trading comps, I'm doing the CME group Futures trading one starting up tomorrow. I'm not expecting to really win, just treating it as a great learning opportunity.

I'm pretty interested in options and plan on reading through some books on it this summer or whenever I have free time. I'm also thinking of learning forex trading since I'll either be working where I did last summer again or somewhere else during the day and can trade forex anytime.

Thanks for your help guys.
