Advice/Tips For Getting an Internship as a Freshman

Hey guys, I hope things are going well. I have been reading on here for about a year but only recently made an account... This is my first post.

That said, I was wondering if you guys had any tips/advice on how I can get an internship for the summer after my freshman year. Also, what type of internship do you think would be most beneficial for a freshman who wants to end up in IB? Is it even realistic for a freshman to get an internship with basically no experience? I know you guys will have valuable insight, so I came here.

Also, I don't know if it makes a difference as a freshman, but I am a freshman at Carnegie Mellon - Tepper School of Business. Will my school really make a difference when trying to get a position?

Thank you in advance for any help, I really appreciate it.

Anything finance related. You can network into F500. Maybe back office at a BB (not sure about this one). Start ups are great experiences to have. Stock brokerage firms. Local wealth management shops. Local boutiques. Private equity firms that are local. Search funds. Probably better threads on this but those are some good places to start. All of these will require a ton of cold emailing and networking, as well as reading about these industries. It is tough as a freshman but not impossible. Even if you can do some business stuff for a local business, as a freshman it is about getting something on the resume.
