Alumni Networking Dilemma

Hi Everyone,

I am currently a senior at a semi-target in NYC, I have seen some job openings in investment banking roles with alumni in those companies, but at different divisions to investment banking (eg. Risk Management, Trading), but none in the investment banking division. I was wondering how would I approach reaching out to them and what type of message should I send them on LinkedIn? I am really confused right now because I don't want them to feel like I am using them to get a foot in the company as I am not interested in the divisions they work in. Thanks!
