Would love to get some pointers on recruiting/career trajectory - I'm a 2L (will become 3L shortly) at a T6 law school

Former lawyer here.  It is very, very, very difficult to break into finance with a law degree even with a stellar undergrad/prior work experience. Because you have not taken a full time associate role, you are in better shape than many who want to make the move (and many do because transactional law is utterly awful).  Your best bet is to get into your school’s MBA program, most of the T6 have decent b schools too.

I'am a last year law student in T1 school in Paris. Studying corporate & tax law. Because I realize that I prefer IB than corporate or tax law (after lot of internship) I decided to apply to Finance Master thanks to a bridge between my law school and the finance master.

I talked with a lot of people and each told me that it's really really difficult to start as a lawyer in M&A in PE (support) and decide to go to investment role. That's why they told me to switch before starting my carrer as a lawyer.

I'm based in France so idk if it is exactly the same in the US
