In the market for loafers and need some crowd wisdom. Are the toes on these puppies too square? Office environment is business casual but with frequent meetings that call for suits. Looking for a workhorse loafer that is easily worn with business casual and maybe (but not necessary) with a suit as well.
Would love to buy another pair of gamos that is cheaper, but these are the only ones which were comfortable -- I guess my foot has a very high instep. Seriously. Every loafer I tried at AE was painful on the right foot.
$720 for a pair? Yeezus... That much can feed my whole family back in China

Those look great - a little expensive, but I like them.
When people talk about square toed shoes they aren't referring to shoes that are nicely chiseled like that, but to shoes that literally look like they've had the toes chopped off (see below):

If you're willing to spend in that range, at least look into some Crockett & Jones or Church's. Not a huge fan of those Ferragamo loafers.
presume your an analyst.. I get that you've recently come into a little extra cash. But common man, why would you seriously consider shoes that expensive?

You know, that's what I thought too. But these can actually be resoled. They're stitched, with the stitching being hidden below the sole. No clue why. But in general I feel ya. Not sure if I want to spend this much on the pair, unless they're at a deep discount at the outlet.
They are NOT stitched in, I've torn apart Ferragamos. Unless you get their top line, they're glued in.
Go on Amazonand you can get shoes 20x classier and better for literally 1/9 of the price (or less). If you are gonna spend that much, might as well get something that looks way better. Same price gets you way better shoes still with a good brand and good quality

Can't really go wrong with AE shoes. You could probably get something better for the 700 dollars you're willing to spend, but I'd rather get a couple pairs of AE for that money. Have you checked out Rancourt shoes? I heard some great things about them and I'm planning on picking up a pair when I get back to the states.

Those look great and are comfortable, agreed. But I see these being rocked by the 45+ crowd; not sure if a twenty-something can pull off wearing the buckles in the office. Thoughts?

The real question I have is -
If my budget is around $50-200, what shoe should I get? Or do I need to save up around 300-600 for a nice pair of shoes?
I always did alright with Bostonian or Charles Tyrwhitt in that price range.
