Anyone have any insight on this? Either what Bonuses were in the 2002/2003 years or insight on what expected bonuses will be this year?
Given that last year's bonus for 1st year Associates seemed to be around $180 to $200ish and reports say down about 50%, are people expecting about a $100 for this years 1st year class?
... that stated that overall banks are expected to pay out $17-21 billion in bonuses this year compared to $32 billion last year, so yes this number is about 50% lower.
On the flip side, there is a substantially smaller amount of employees eligible to receive a bonus (due to layoffs and bank failures), and it is expected that executive bonuses will be hit the hardest.
If you can find out how many people will share that bonus pool compared to how many shared last year's bonus pool, then you should be able to find a good approximation of what your bonus should be. I would hope that you receive more than 50% of last years bonus.
This is based on what I've read and I do not know how credible the source was (even though the article was in a credible newspaper from what I remember).
That he got a $30,000 bonus as a second year associate and a huge hug during the 2002 era. A lot of the rest of his class got a hug and the boot.
