Australian IB
Hey all - I'm thinking about moving back to Aus (moved overseas a few years ago) and haven't been too close to the market.
Who are the reliable recruiters these days? Is it still Jon Michel etc or other newer recruiters? Who are some of the newer shops (Barrenjoey & Jarden) using for recruiters?
There are a few data points in various threads on comp, but seems like reliable data is few and far between - any guidance for comp at associate and VP level? Also curious, just browsing through LinkedIn profiles it seems that VP to director level doesn't necessarily occur after three years - there seems to be a number of VPs who have been there for 4 / 5 years plus? Is that common or just a function of my search not being wide enough?
Last one, any recent input on who the stronger banks are - seems like the usual suspects of Goldman, UBS, Macquarie still do well with Barrenjoey and MS a little behind them (and potentially Jarden but don't have enough data to tell) and then the rest of the bulge brackets swapping spots depending on the year. Is that a fair assesment?
Bump - interested to know as well
For a market like that, doesn't it make more sense to just reach out directly to the MD's you are interested in working for? You'll probably have better success as long as you're patient around timing and may get paid more since no recruiter takes a cut.
UBS have seen lot of departures. MS has been doing really well M&A front this year and Barrenjoey doing well at 4th. Jarden weaker compared to top tier banks
