Banker Preschool in Manhattan
This was a tough topic to find a forum for, but I figure the most knowledge will be found here among the i-bankers' forum, so thank you in advance.
Soon Ill be heading to NYC for the next few years of my life, first for 2 years MBA then 3+ years investment banking (thats the goal at least, the MBA part is certain)
I have a 4 year old (just turned 4) and I would like to enroll her in pre-school in Manhattan this Fall, ideally in the lower half of Manhattan. Would be nice if my daughter went to school with the daughters of other professionals in banking...does such a preschool exist to anyone's knowledge (one that all the banker's kids go to) ?
Anyone have any helpful hints or good resources for exploring this in general?
What am I looking at paying for the year? This will most likely have to come out of grad student loans.

dude, with 2 years of mba upcoming and ur subsequent career uncertain, i wouldn't recommend putting ur kid in one of those insane nyc preschools that i heard can run up to 30k a year---
put urself first and then worry about ur kids, public schools are fine as long as u hire a good tutor for a few times a week... personal debt is evil
A good public school is just as good - gives your kid a chance at a more well-adjusted life, without having to have her mind warped by the distorted reality that is NYC private schools... Some of the coolest guys I know in banking went to public high schools. Just saying...
Look into Stuyvesant down the road. I know a couple guys who went there - awesome learning experience from what they tell me.
Paying college-level tuition for K-12 seems absolutely ridiculous to me. The incremental return of a private k-12 education over a public one probably isn't enough to justify the costs unless you're a true bsd. Also, if you're not a bsd, your kids will end up distinctly outside the "cool" circle of friends - so take that into consideration as well. Just my two cents.
Your kid doesn't need a damn tutor in preschool, come on now. Public school will do just fine, playing with blocks doesn't require any advanced skills and a tutor isn't going to help them "get ahead" in preschool. I don't see why you'd want them to be around only bankers' kids, wouldn't it be a better experience to have them around everyone's kids and let them see what different types of people look and act like? Maybe it could even, I dunno, help them out in the long run? Just a thought.
