BCG First Round Turnaround - Off Cycle

I first round interviewed for BCG off cycle post MBA consultant position on Friday late afternoon (3 business days ago). The other candidate that interviewed at the exact same time with the exact same people received an email rejection on Monday morning. I have not heard anything and tomorrow is Thursday. HR had told us they’ll be in touch “early next week” but to “give up to 2 weeks.” I can’t logically reason why the delay given the other candidate was immediately notified and one of the interviewers left on vacation the next day, so any discussion had to have been had on Friday. I’m going nuts with anxiety. I thought it went really well but every passing day erodes my confidence and builds my confusion. Any guesses what’s going on?

Just chill, its not like you freaking out over it changes their decision. Its out of your control now so focus on what you can improve on for a next round.

Stay cool. Usually, if a person got rejected immediately after the interview it is because the person did not pass the bar. After the first round, if you passed, the company will send your profile to the target offices you selected by the order of your preference. If your first choice office doesn't have enough spot or they have a better candidate, they will pass you to the second choice office. This process takes quite some time. It is also possible that they are waiting for another cycle of first-round interview to have more eggs in the bucket for the decision. It is true that none of these processes is under your control and there is no way you can change anything at this point. I would suggest focussing on improving yourself for the next round and networking with people at the firm.
