Best computer for equity research?

Guys I’m new to the forum. I’m looking for a PC. And only a PC. I know there are tons of options out there, but here’s what it’s come down to:

Lenovo P51

Lenovo Carbon X1

Dells XPS15

The computer will be used for business uses including modeling, word processing and other related functions.

What has your experience been with any of these computers? If you have any other suggestions to offer please share. Also, keep in mind I am very interested in critical complaints of them. I’d love to know any shortcomings they may have.

Thank you!

Whatever laptop you decide to get, I'd suggest having a keyboard with a number pad. Such a timesaver.

Have a Lenovo Carbon X1 provided by my workplace:

  1. Really light, easy to carry around
  2. No NumPad which is a pain in the ass
  3. Mouse touchpad not as responsive as I would like, if that matters to you
  4. The computer itself charges extremely quickly

Otherwise everything else is pretty average in my opinion.

Ok I don’t think I’m getting the X1. Probably the XPS. No num, pad. How bad will this be? Can’t I just get an external one?

Of course then the trouble is the carrying around of miscellaneous extras.
