Don’t know, but I’m banking using multiples is a fast way to give valuation. Especially in the circumstances where internally valuing companies is just impractical and near impossible (poor audits, faulty projections, market volatility). Providing a market multiple and doing a price discovery process can be the best way to sell an asset in some circumstances, especially when an asset needs to be sold vs selling if the founder feels like it’s enough.

But no, all banks model. Just depends on the group really. And the product.

Always here to help!

If this is related to ER (given that it's in the ER forum), then some ER groups / teams focus on different things. Some teams may have great channel checks / industry connects, others may really dig into the modeling aspect. There are a lot of ways a research franchise can operate.
