Better to Quit or Take Severance
Was wondering if in a scenario that your bank is doing layoffs, is it better to offer to quit vs. getting laid off in the HR meeting in case you end up there?

Is this a real question...
if you know you are getting laid off... you should wait till it hits and collects severance.... while would you volunteer to quit and get nothing...
F his pride
Pride isn't going to pay his bills.
not to mention, if you get laid off instead of quit, you can also collect unemployment. why the heck would anyone preemptively quit?
Maybe I wasnt clear, this is in a situation whereby you are in the room with HR being told that they need to layoff. No way to predict if you would end up in the room. At that instance, is it better to offer to quit? This is from the perspective of job search post leaving the company?
Do you mean to say they are looking for 'volunteers' and will offer them severance?
If that's the case, you'd have to make your decision based on the severance package and how long you think it would take you to find new employment, versus getting fired, zero severance, but then apply for unemployment for up to 99 weeks.
If this is some sort of "you can't fire me because I quit!" thing, that's just dumb.
When they inform you that you are fired, just keep shouting at them that they are fired. Don't stop until you are forced out of the building.
