Big 4 Audit to Corporate Finance to IBD?
PLEASE HELP!!
I just joined a Big 4 firm in London doing Audit and contracted to complete my ACA as part of my grad scheme. I want to move to IBD (BB or MM boutique) in the near future but I am aware that moving into Corporate Finance is a good stepping stone. I graduated from a top target uni and have extensive knowledge in finance and already drafted a couple finance models while at uni.
Anyone in a similar position managed to move into IBD pre MBA? Is it possible to transition into Corporate Finance during my Audit Grad Scheme (both the programme include ACA qualification btw)? Out of pure ignorance, what do I need to do at this point or what team/department should I try to be involved in a move into IBD in a couple of years? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!!!

ACFIBD the path you've just described is the same path that i had taken
B4 transaction services > local corporate finance > BB sector team > family office growth equity
I think the B4 corp fin teams are better perceived in the U.K. compared to Asia as a whole; I think the corp fin team will be a good supplement to your existing modelling knowledge and it would help your move if you could execute that modelling knowledge on some live transactions while you're in corporate finance
@familyofficemonkey thanks a bunch! What part to Corporate Finance would you recommend joining? Secondly I am told that it is very rare to move to BB IBD from Big 4 CF, how exactly did u make the switch? Did you hire a recruitment agent to do your bidding or had an internal reference from a friend already working at the BB? Is there anyway I can get CF experience while on my Big 4 Audit Grad scheme?

You're absolutely right typically banks don't target a B4 CF unless in very rare circumstances
What I did was first move to a local boutique and then BB from there which was easier but more time consuming
I'm not sure how it works in B4 internships now but perhaps a chat with your mentor/coach there to see if you could do a quick stint?
